My Goals For 2025

Benita Bensch Episode 45

As we usher in 2025, I find myself deeply reflective and excited about the year ahead. Whether you celebrated New Year's Eve by turning in early or dancing the night away, I hope your festivities were wonderful. I’m writing this with a sense of fresh beginnings and anticipation, and I wanted to share some of the goals I've set for this year.

Embracing New Beginnings

As many of you know from previous episodes, we have embarked on a huge transition. After moving from the border town of Goondiwindi in Queensland to our new home in the Echuca Moama region, we are ready to begin this exciting new chapter.

Personal Growth and Stability

This year, I am committed to slowing down and fostering stability within our family. It's been a whirlwind past few years, filled with big decisions and changes, from leaving our family farm to moving towns and schools. My aim in 2025 is to pause, reflect, and appreciate the journey.

Additionally, I am focusing on health and well-being. I've encountered some unexpected health challenges in the past 18 months, which have served as a reminder to care for my body and mind. Slowing down not only feels essential but vital for maintaining a balanced lifestyle.

Work and Play

My approach to work is undergoing a transformation in 2025. I've temporarily paused my coaching programs, desiring the headspace to focus on our move and settling in. Yet, I'm thrilled about leaning into my passion for writing in 2025. I plan to make writing my primary focus, while dedicating, I think at this stage, approx. one day a week to coaching and consulting. I'm especially excited about working on my upcoming non-fiction book centred around motherhood, and embarking on a children's book series as well.

The Road Ahead

While my goals for 2025 might seem loosely defined, they’re driven by an intention to live slower and more intentionally. I’m eager to witness what life unfolds when I maintain a high vibration and clarity in my thoughts and actions. I invite you to join me in reflecting on your own ambitions for the year.

What are your goals for 2025? Is there a word that encapsulates your hopes and intentions? Listen in to find out what mine is!

[00:00:00] Benita: Hello and Happy New Year! I hope you had a fantastic New Year's Eve, whether that was going to bed early or partying all night long. Welcome to the new year. And I'm so excited that this episode comes out on the 1st of January, even though I'm recording it in advance, I feel the excitement of that already.

[00:00:39] There's nothing like starting a brand new fresh year.

[00:00:43] And while you're listening, if you're tuning into this on the 1st of January, We are likely on our way home from New Zealand after a holiday after moving to the Echuca Moama region on the border of Victoria and New South Wales, which is a big change from living at Goondiwindi in Queensland, also a border town.

[00:01:03] What is it about border towns? But we're excited to really officially begin our new chapter there. And that starts once we get home on the 1st of January. So happy new year. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and festive season, and I hope you have a smile on your face today as the new year kicks off.

[00:01:24] Maybe not many of you are listening to this on New Year's Day, but perhaps you will tune in during January. And of course, everyone starts asking, or you might start thinking in January about your goals for the year. This is not an episode on goal setting. What I did want to share though was some of my goals for 2025 and I'm recording this at the end of November.

[00:01:46] So some of my goals are still a bit vague. I haven't set any specific, very clearly defined goals. At this point in time, I just have a general sense of how I want 2025 [00:02:00] to be. So that we'll have to do for now.

[00:02:02] I feel like sometimes it takes a little bit of reflection and a little bit of sitting back after the end of the school year, after the end of the festive season. And when you actually have some time to do it, a lot of people will go on holidays in January and you might do it then. So no doubt after our time in New Zealand, after our move, After some more reflecting, some more things might come through for me, but what I'm feeling pulled towards and where I'm being guided is what I can share, right now about my goals for 2025, both on a personal and on a business level, in case you're wondering.

[00:02:37] been going through some big changes in life, as you would know, if you've been listening to the other more recent episodes, which have been finishing my work with the Farm Owners Academy as a farm. Accountability coach, and moving from Goondiwindi. We have sold our land at Moonee and completely, exited the family farming business we had there with my parents.

[00:03:02] we are pursuing a whole new venture down at Echuca from both farming and, as a family, Starting afresh there. And no doubt I'll talk more about all of that once we're down there and once we're into it all. So life literally looks very different for 2025 for me and my family. I feel like I'm really starting with a clean slate as far as my work goes.

[00:03:30] I paused on running my coaching programs. Towards the end of 2024 as a result of the upcoming changes we were going through and feeling like I needed the headspace and the capacity to go through the move and the changes. So apart from my Illuminate community, which is still, we still have a group and a chat group, and a platform where the Illuminate content is housed.

[00:03:56] Really, that's the only active thing I have going in my [00:04:00] coaching business right now. Which is the least that I have kind of had going for many years. And whilst that feels very uncomfortable, it also feels exciting because it means I can kind of build things in a new and different way this year because I've learned a lot over the last few years.

[00:04:20] And I want to make sure I'm actually learning and taking what I've learned and applying it and integrating it into my next project. A lot of exciting things that come to life. so I guess from a personal point of view in 2025, I first and foremost am focused on re establishing our family in a new location, getting my boys started in a new school, being there for them, being there as we begin new work opportunities, new business opportunities, and making sure I have the space to offer.

[00:05:06] I see the first few months of this year being around settling in, reestablishing our values, and our goals, and I'm hoping that while we're in New Zealand on a holiday that we'll have some great conversations around these things. and just re establishing routines as well and finding our feet. And wanting to be present for that as much as I can and not, running headlong into my ambitious entrepreneurial projects, which is my typical go to because I love my work and I love business and I love creating.

[00:05:48] So. I guess I want to do it a little bit differently this year in taking my time I can have the ideas But keep them in a notebook or keep them in [00:06:00] my ideas list on my phone or keep them in my things I want to start or do or pursue and not feel like I've got to hold myself back from them forever, but just maybe for a little bit.

[00:06:09] Sostability, I think, is putting our feet down, putting our roots into the soil as a family and getting a little bit settled. The slowing down side of things also is important for me in 2025. I feel like ever since I started work, paid work again, after having our fourth child, I have been in a very, um,fast pace.

[00:06:37] And whilst I've loved every minute of it, I know my nervous system needs a come down and needs a And I feel like my cortisol levels are not healthy or sustainable for my body. And I've had a few, I don't know, health shocks in the past 12 months. Again, if you've listened to my podcast episodes, you would have heard me talk about this.

[00:07:02] My, ACL, snapping my ACL and two other ligaments in my right knee, needing an ACL reconstruction. in July 2023 and then a follow up surgery and then having my gallbladder removed this year. Some stuff going on with my heart, that is, we've investigated and there's nothing serious there, but just, you know, just things to monitor that have been a bit of a scare.

[00:07:24] I think the last few years of what we have been through with, leaving the farm, like, first of all, leaving the Moonee community, changing schools, moving, and then leaving for, well, first we left the Moonee community and the Moonee school, then we left the farm, and then we've left Ganderwindi.

[00:07:44] It's a lot of uncertainty, a lot of instability, lots of unknowns, and a lot of stress. So I would love for 2025 to be about slowing down and [00:08:00] giving my nervous system a reset just taking things slower and not being in such a rush to achieve and do and do and do. to prove anything, because there is nothing to prove.

[00:08:16] And it's okay to just be, and it's okay to take time to create. I want to actually read the 50 books that are next to my bedside table and finish the courses that I've started. Complete the courses that I want to enroll in about neurodiversity and about writing more books. I'm excited to be doing some courses with the Australian Writers Centre.

[00:08:40] I'll get more to that in a moment, but actually complete some things and do it in a way of presence and not just in a hurried mad rush. That is my intention for 2025.

[00:08:54] I have learned a lot about myself in the last two years, through therapy, through going on retreats, through working with lots of different modalities like breathwork and energy healing and human design and astrology and learning about trauma, learning about neurodiversity, learning I'm a highly sensitive person.

[00:09:16] Learning I have strong ADHD traits. I'm a 6 2 profile in human design, and I have found understanding my human design to be really powerful. And I'm excited in 2025 to sort of redesign my life and my work from the ground up with the knowledge I now have and the mentors I now have.

[00:09:37] Because nothing, I don't think, has been more true for me in the last couple of years than, or rung true for me as much as learning about my human design and starting to make, choices in line with that. And I feel, more in alignment with that than most other things. So I'm keen to know more and to start to make.[00:10:00]

[00:10:00] is based around that because it feels true for me. and not to say that I will completely craft my life around my human design, but there are elements of it that are feeling very true. And when I test them are true for me. And so for example, coming to understand that I'm not someone who can work All day, every day on an ongoing basis, understanding that I need more rest, that I need to build time in for reflection, that I'm someone who needs a lot of alone time.

[00:10:31] I need time to process things and I'm, I get overstimulated very easily and just starting to know all these things about myself, that putting systems in place to support myself. Deliberately making choices to support myself and that are in alignment with who I feel like I know I am now, rather than doing things the way I thought was the right way to do them.

[00:10:59] Maybe as a should, or maybe just because I didn't know any better. And I was following someone else's model and running my business based on what someone else was doing, not what really actually suits me. So after this kind of self awareness journey, which has been incredible over the last sort of five years.

[00:11:18] and particularly in the last three years. I feel like I can take that and I want to really spend the time in crafting the way that I set up my days as the next step. So designing my life and in my illuminate program, there's a module called life by design. I'm quite passionate about this topic that we do have choice and we do get to choose the way we can structure our lives and our days to suit our needs.

[00:11:47] Health and fitness is another one. Everyone probably feels like health and fitness is always on their new year goals. Of course it is for me too. I want to switch my focus from being about weight loss to being [00:12:00] strong, fit and healthy. And I'm excited to dive into that in 2025. It's been very stop start for me with Different surgeries and different things going on.

[00:12:11] so looking forward to, I'm not quite sure what that will look like. I've enjoyed doing Pilates in Gunderwindi at the end of 2024. And so I'm excited to keep doing Pilates. I feel like that's been great for my strength and my core and stretching. It's just awesome as a early 40 in my early forties woman.

[00:12:32] I'd love to get back into doing some bike riding, who knows what else. some horse riding, hopefully. and of course, nutrition, sleep, taking care of myself, taking care of my stress levels, all of those things that feed into health and fitness. So I can be the strong, fit and healthy. And the strong part I feel is important too.

[00:12:53] I've come to understand the importance of strength as we get over 40, that strength training and resistance training. becomes more important than cardio, which was always my go to. So wanting to lean into that and actually be integrating it more. I have decided my word for 2025 is play.

[00:13:13] So I'm very excited about doing more playing in 2025 and just living with more of a lightness and whilst 2024 has been a great year, I feel like there's been this undertone of seriousness for us as we've. Made some hard decisions and executed leaving the farm and moving away from my family and, moving in itself and health stuff with the kids.

[00:13:40] And of course it could all be so much worse and none of it is life threatening or horrible, but there has been this undertone of uncertainty in our worlds of what are we doing? Where are we going? where are we going to be living? Where's the kids going to be going to school? lots of unknowns.

[00:13:57] So I'm excited for us [00:14:00] to kind of put our roots down and just enjoy where we are have some more lightness in our home and, just to play. I just want to play. I want to have more fun you don't have to go anywhere or do anything crazy to be having fun. You can, that can happen in the home at any time.

[00:14:16] And I think it's a choice as well and an attitude of having fun. So that's on my agenda. in terms of business or those sorts of ambitions, I'm going to be leaning into my writing more in 2025. I'm super excited about this instead of it being kind of a, whenever I can fit it in kind of thing around my coaching, I'm going to flip it in 2025 and make writing my main thing and doing coaching, maybe even some consulting work.

[00:14:49] Maybe that is more like one day a week type thing and the rest of my time I want to be focusing on writing, keeping on working on my new book, which is a nonfiction work around motherhood and also get started on my children's book series that I want to write. I'm doing some courses with the Australian Writers Centre and I'm wanting to just get more into the publishing industry.

[00:15:14] And learn the ropes. I'm an amateur, complete amateur. I've self published one book in 2019, but there is so much more to learn. So I'm looking forward to understanding the industry more and getting my words on paper because I feel like that's my creative thing and words are my gift. It's when I'm kind of my true self, I feel, and storytelling is my thing.

[00:15:39] So I'm really excited about that. I'm also going to be running one, maybe two retreats in 2025. I will let you know when they will be. You can join them, my mailing list on my website, benitabench. com to hear about when those will be. I'll follow my social media pages at benitabench on Instagram and [00:16:00] Illuminate, I have the intention of creating an online course from, rather than that being an active coaching program, I want it to become an online course that's accessible to anyone, anytime. I'm giving some thought as well to other offers or other ways of working in 2025 that bring together my experience and my passion for working with mothers, working with farming families, helping individuals to.

[00:16:27] Draw out their strengths and understand. and embrace their gifts, understand who they really are, and express more of who they are with the world. So I'm just really thinking and leaning into what does that look like and how do I present that, but more of that in time. And of course we will be just still exploring our new farming venture and what that looks like.

[00:16:48] So I need some space to really be there and be available for that and be engaged in it as well. So those are kind of the things that are happening. And as well as being a mom, which of course is like a full time job. So that's immensely important to be available for my boys. And that's the number one.

[00:17:07] so whilst there's not really clearly defined goals, those are my general kind of areas and wanting to. Do it all in a slower fashion and just see what arrives when I hold a high vibration when I'm conscious of the energy that I'm going about things in and when I'm feeling good, you know, what will I attract what will come in if I am staying quite general with what I want to manifest, but having an idea of what I want and allowing invitations and opportunities to arise and just assessing them with new eyes and fresh eyes.

[00:17:47] So I'm wondering what your goals are. If you feel like sharing, drop me a line. I'm curious to know what your goals for 2025 are. What's your word for the year? What's important to you [00:18:00] in 2025? And don't feel like there's any rush that you need to rush into them because there's plenty of time. Sending you lots of love.

[00:18:09] So much best wishes for the year ahead. How exciting. Bring it on. 2025. Here we come. I'll talk to you in the next episode. Bye bye.
